T20 double header rounds were played across all Saturday grades at the weekend as the competition heads into the Christmas break. Bentleigh hanging on to top spot in the premiership ladder by a single point from South Caulfield after losing to Bonbeach in the first round of T20 games. At Boss James Reserve, Hampton batted first with Jeremy Lawlor (32) pushing Hampton to 6/113 but not enough as South Caulfield 3/114 chased the total down with two overs to spare as Luke Russell (33), Lewis Mildenhall (26) and Will Russell (26*) took the game away. At Bonbeach, the Sharks received a bonus point after compiling 8/137(cc) Alex Williams (52) and knocking over Bentleigh for 93 with only Dan Richardson (25) getting a start as Adrian Dale picked up 3/18 from his 4 overs. Down at Chelsea, Beaumaris batted first 3/147(cc) Neil Minto 44 from 28 balls setting up the win as they defeated Chelsea 7/89(cc) to get a bonus point. At Carnegie in a close and tense match Carnegie 5/101(cc) Tarun Rabari (43*) needed every ball to chase down McKinnon’s 9/100(cc) where Jack Harrison’s (38*) wasn’t enough as Carnegie grabbed victory of the last ball of the day. In Division 1, Brighton District head up the premiership ladder at the turn, also by a single point, as as they defeated Murrumbeena who now sit second. Jason Oldfield’s 70 set the Dragons up with a score of 9/156(cc) as they took the points at Peter Robertson Oval. Murrumbeena's 6/150 in reply from their 20 overs looked on track with Brad Kruger (63) and Joe Arnold (56) making headway but ultimately falling short. At Cheltenham where the club used the day to celebrate its 145th anniversary, Middle Park were all out in the 20th over for 122, defeated Cheltenham 101. At Mentone, Parkdale batted first with Anthony Reid (54) getting the total to 104 before the Tigers chased the total down 2/106, captain Simon Cormie 42 not out. Whilst out at the playing fields Bayside’s Jarred Fletcher was run out on 42 as the Stingrays posted 116, Dale Myer 4/9 for Old Mentonian’s. Scott Elstone (53) and Dan Russo (43) made short work of the total finishing at 2/118 in 15.2 overs. In Division 2, South Caulfield 6/155(cc), Josh O'Donnell (69) defeated Hampton 83, South’s Ed Tattersall (4/12), Bonbeach 9/85(cc) defeated Bentleigh 83; Port Melbourne 1/91 from 12.2 overs, Dulan Berman (46) defeated Aspendale 88 and Parkdale United 3/137 in 14.5 overs, Rahul Shanmugam (62) defeated Clayton District 136(cc).
