Bonbeach and Bentleigh are set to replay their nail-biting Semi Final from last season

Bentleigh locked in their finals spot and received a confidence boost when it defeated Championship leader South Caulfield. South resuming at 6/56 chasing Bentleigh’s 106, fell 7 short, all out 99. A victory for the Demons that is certain to provide a spark when they take on Bonbeach in this weekend’s semi-final to be held at Bonbeach. Whilst Bonbeach will start favourites this is likely to be a closely contested and spirited final. The two teams clashed in the same game last season at Arthur Street with Bonbeach coming out on top after Bentleigh were well in the running late in the game.

Carnegie will take on South Caulfield at Princes Park after losing to Chelsea and dropping from second to fourth. Not the best finish for last years Division 1 Premiers, but a great fillip for Chelsea to end their season. The Negie now having to play the reigning Championship Premiers.

McKinnon finished the year with its second win after Beaumaris’s sporting declartation week one, as the Sharks pursued an outright win to give it the slimmest of chances of making finals. Beaumaris will be disappointed in its finishing position after making semi’s last season and recruiting well in the off-season. Whilst Bonbeach chased but narrowly missed an outright against a depleted Hampton outfit.

Bonbeach 8/245(dec) (D Fernandez 85) def Hampton 97 and 8/88;

Carnegie 86 and v Chelsea 6/133 (D Vandergert 53*);

In Division 1, Parkdale jumped into fourth by beating Brighton District at Dendy Park, which then saw White Ball Premiers Mentone failing to make finals after losing to Murrumbeena at home. Old Mentonians almost grabbed second spot missing out by 0.03% but are certain to provide a real challenge to the Dragons in next week’s semi. Parkdale will take on Murrumbeena at Peter Robertson Oval in the other semi with the Brad Kruger lead Beena starting firm favourites.

Parkdale 9/95(dec) (T Williamson 6/18) def Bri Dist 85 (A Young 5/19) and 5/99;

In Division 2, Aspendale will play in its first CSB final after defeating Port Melbourne and will take on nearby neighbour Parkdale United at Jack Grut Reserve. The strong South Caulfield 2nd XI will take on Port Melbourne after finishing well clear on top. Clayton District avoided possible relegation after it upset Parkdale United in a result likely to send a few jitters through the Python’s nest

South Caulfield 8/289(cc) (M Currey 99*) def Bentleigh 148;

Aero Player of the Round

Our last Aero Player of the Round is Daniel Graham with his 9/60 against Clayton District.

Graham's 9/60 becomes CSB Best Competition wide bowling figures, eclipsing Stacey Brown's 9/62 last season also against Clayton District. Graham's match also included a 15*, but with CSB's best bowling figures to date he is this rounds Aero Player of the Round.

Cricket Southern Bayside thanks Aero and Sam Coates for the support of CSB throughout the 2017/18 season which also included the supply of Clads for the VMCU U21 Championship winning side.
