It wasn’t two and it certainly wasn’t blue at Parkdale at the weekend. 3 premierships from 3 games one suggests that the two blues, Parkdale, might have painted the suburb red on Sunday night after slaying the Dragons! Two Saturday one day grades the day before, then capping it off with a Division 1 Premiership after being in 5th place before the start of the last round. Parkdale were off to a flyer after a second week in a row batting collapse by Brighton District, this time no heroics from Dylan Blignaut suffering the worst of all dismissals, a diamond duck, run out without facing a ball after careering off the bowlers hand onto the stumps, and it couldn’t have come at a worse time, the Dragons falling to 3/11. Captain Jason Oldfield (22) went about trying to rebuild the innings with Rick Jones (35) but wickets fell continuously with Andrew Lasky (41) the top score with Brighton District all out in the 66th over for 144 whilst Aiden Young snared 3/21 to be the best of the Dale’s bowlers. Parkdale’s chase began that afternoon, losing Matt Bailey (2) before they resumed on Sunday. After loosing early wickets and at 3/26 it could have been anyone’s but Parkdale Captain Anthony Reid wasn’t letting this opportunity slip by, as he steadied the ship with 58* and enough support around him to have Parkdale home in 65 overs with 4 wickets in hand. In Saturday’s One Day Divisions, Division 1 Parkdale 8/143cc, Joe O’Laughlin (35), defeated Clayton District all out 136. Sam Hussain (46) and Grant Baylis (3/26). In Saturday One Day Division 2 Parkdale all out 162 Wayne McLaughlin (51*) defeated Hampton 9/148 Dave Lever (50*). A big weekend for everyone at Gerry Green Reserve with 3 Premierships, they maybe blue but we suspect they are likely to be as the oval says – just a little Green!
