Aspendale were the other big winners out of the Cricket Southern Bayside finals played last weekend.

In Division 2, Aspendale defeated the highly fancied South Caulfield on Princes Park # 4. Thanks to Ethan Wright (64) Aspendale managed to get their score to 205 from 69 overs but it didn’t look enough on the small outside ground and a flat deck, but enough it was! Only Ed Tattersall (62) got going for South’s and it was Ethan Wright this time with the ball picking up 4/38 and Aspendale home, South all out 175.

Aspendale also picked up Division 6 when it beat Parkdale United down at Jack Grut. Aspendale batting first were all out 165 from 65.2 overs and that too didn’t look enough, but as in Division 2 it proved plenty and Justin Dean’s 4/30 knocking over United for 124 and Aspendale 2 from 2.

In Division 3, it was Mentone defeating South Caulfield. Batting the first day out Mentone finished at 7/264, Lachlan Quin (66), at 4/139 Quinn stepped up again with a great catch and when South lost Zues Irani (66) to make it 5/146, the Tigers applied the pressure and after 72 overs dismissed South’s for 209.

In Division 4, Middle Park made the trip to Beaumaris and delivered. Batting first they reached 205 from 74 overs Ruwen Moodley (67) leading the way, then it was Andrew Crellin (4/40) and Mat Beames (4/55) bringing it home for the boys from Middle Park, Beaumaris all out 171.

In Division 5, it was the Seahorses galloping away with the win over Beaumaris, Hampton batting first reaching 180, with Tom Macafee (53), the Sharks never getting going Josh Davis top scoring with 29 as they fell well short all out 116.
